The Hoagie Roll

So what’s everyone been up to for the last two years…?

It seems like life has stood still while flying by. The last two years saw our Team add new mini-Teammates, change jobs, face new challenges, and lose more loved ones to cancer. It also saw us plan and cancel more events, rides, fundraisers, and fun than we can even keep track of. Frankly, the last two years stunk. That’s why we’re going to change that this month.

We felt paralyzed by the incredible success of The Lobster Roll. As we were planning to outdo ourselves in every way, it felt impossible. How do we ride farther? How do we reach more people? How do we raise more money (over $50,000 to be exact)? So we did what we do best. Put the “fun” in fundraising. What’s more Philly than a Lobster Roll? You got it, a Hoagie Roll. What’s more fun than riding on roads? Give us all the dirt tracks, gravel and trails. What’s the best cure to the constant cancelling downers. A proper mulligan, the do-over.

The Hoagie Roll is much more than a do-over. We’ll be searching out the best roads-less-travelled across Pennsylvania in search of more than just miles. We’re in search of fun and funds. Each night we’ll be glamping along side our trusty support vehicle with our legendary driver, Team I Hate Cancer co-founder, CJ Walsh. Our film crew and creative champions, led by Rob McKinnie and VGCA, will be along for the ride of course. Instead of worrying about average miles per hour and normalized power, we’ll be taking in the scenery and shoofly pie.

We promise to bring the fun but need your help bringing the funds. Over the last two years, support of the cancer community has been at an all time low. The focus has understandably been elsewhere but cancer patients and their families have suffered in isolation and fear while the world learned to deal with the new normal. That’s why this year we’re pledging to do even more. To fill in the funding gap and make our biggest impact yet. Our goal is $75,000 and we know we can do it with your help. Hopefully you’ve all saved some extra coffee cash on your WFH days and can share it with families dealing with the hardest news they’ve had to hear during the hardest times in recent memory.

The meat sweats are a guarantee on The Hoagie Roll but our real success is in your hands. Will you help us hit our goal?

Michael Walsh
